Each
season, the Lightning sponsor numerous special nights and events to
raise awareness and recognize important causes in the Tampa Bay area.
In the spring, the Lightning has several special nights and events
planned for Lightning home games. For more information on any of the
nights or events, please contact the Community Relations Manager, Kathryn
Harper at 813-301-6712.
Pucks and Pups: In conjunction with several local animal organizations,
including the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and PAWS, the Lightning will
continue to host animal shelter awareness nights, called Pucks and
Pups. Hillsborough County not only has the highest euthanasia rate
in the state, but one of the highest in the country. Our goal in hosting
these nights is to raise awareness for local shelters and encourage
fans interested in a new pet to check out the wonderful animals needing
homes at local shelters.
In addition, the Lightning will be sponsoring
a pet adopt-a-thon on the plaza pre-game and collecting “animal needs
items”, such as dog food, cleaning
supplies and cat litter in a supply drive for local shelters.
Ruslan
Fedotenko and his wife Debbie have visited the Humane Society of Tampa
Bay for a tours of the facility. The couple has graciously agreed to
serve as spokespersons for the Pucks and Pups events. |
